On Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend, January 16-18, 2026), Jerusalem will be celebrating the installation of Pastor-Elect Rev. Dr. Jonathan Z. Butler.
The theme for the installation is “Pastor and People Rising Together in Covenant” from Nehemiah 2:18.
The installation marks a celebration of faith, unity and shared purpose. Being on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, it fortifies the moment for us to honor our heritage, embrace our present, and build a future anchored in a covenant relationship between pastor, people, and God.
The following is the schedule of activities planned:
Friday, January 16 at 6:30 p.m.: Installation Sacred Service at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Guest speaker is Rev. Dr. Marcus D. Cosby, esteemed Pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, Houston Texas.
Saturday, January 17 at 6:00 p.m.: Installation Banquet and Gala at the Hyatt Centric Hotel, Mountain View. This is a ticketed event with entertainment and dinner. Tickets can be obtained by calling the church office at (650) 325-9022. Or through www.jerusalemchurch.org go to Givelify. Tickets are $125 per person.
Sunday, January 18 at 11:00 a.m.: Installation Celebration Service at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Guest Speaker, Rev. Dr. Amos C. Brown, Pastor Emeritus, Third Baptist Church, San Francisco.
